Bamana Funeral Black Iron Fowl Figure
This black iron forged zoomorphic figure represents a fowl and originates from the Bamana or Bambara people of Mali. The is sought to represent a good luck bird. The shimmering colors of his plumage evoke happiness and prosperity. In Bambara, the guinea fowl is the protective animal of the Coulibaly lineages to which the brings alms and sacrifice. They still have many anemistic uses, amulets, charms, household or healing altar objects and funerary objects.
