This hand-cast crafted Djenne horsman ring is made of bronze and dates as early as the 11th or 12th century. An authentic reduced-scale sculpture, worn by the religious chief. The mounted warrior is an ancestor figure, said to impart spiritual power. A superb heavy oxidized vert-de-gris patina of greens and browns as well as encrusted deposits cover this imposing ring.
